I actually, quite literally, just typed that question into Google. I really am just making this up as I go along!
For all my intelligence and talent as a writer I have zero common sense. When it came to start this blog I was hoping it would be a travel blog, people love to read about travel and I love to bugger off to loads of different places. However, I was concerning myself too much with making it like every other blog I’ve read, trying to give it a label… but I’ve come to the realisation of something important…
Be yourself.
I’ve only written a handful of posts and already it has become a chore to try and sit down to work on new ones. This is because I was trying to write to gain followers and attract readers. I get that is important but at the same time, it isn’t. I started my first blog years ago after my Father passed away and I blogged solely about depression and loss, I didn’t care who read it, it didn’t matter.
With Paul Day Away I have tried to make it something that I am not. So no more!
The principal of the site will stay the same, it is me attempting to go away on adventures but I will also be focusing more on being away in my thoughts. The reason I was so happy with my other blog was because I just typed the title and then the words just poured out of me.
Basically I just ramble on like an old person, but that’s what I enjoy about writing blogs. You start writing and you just see what begins to seep out of your body, then all of a sudden you’ve stumbled on something profound or daring, something funny or maybe still something really shit but it doesn’t matter.
When you write for yourself you can be happy knowing that you are being true to yourself. I was trying to be a tour guide and I’m not. I am me, I have many flaws, I have talents too, I am imperfectly wonderful and I wish to share all of these things with other people.
So if you read expecting a step by step guide on how to do things then you’re in the wrong place. If you’re up for some silliness, some sadness and some sharing then stay tuned my friends because I’m finally being me!
Oh, and it turns out that a Lifestyle Blog is a blog about someone’s lifestyle and interests… who would have thought!?!
